An assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump occurred at the Butler Farm Show Grounds in Butler, Pennsylvania. The incident, which transpired during a high-profile public appearance, prompted a swift and exhaustive investigation led by multiple agencies, including the FBI, Secret Service, the Task Force on the Attempted Assassination of Donald J. Trump, and the Department of Homeland Security. Central to the investigation was the subpoena for all radio communications recorded between 6 a.m., July 13 to 6 a.m., July 14, 2024.

The Butler County Department of Emergency Services (BCDES) faced a pressing challenge: providing a massive but secure, organized repository of all Motorola P25 radio traffic recorded within the stipulated timeframe.

A Coordinated Response

All relevant radio and phone communications were extracted from their on-site server and uploaded to a dedicated Eventide CloudSync virtual server, resident in the secure AWS GovCloud. This platform provided a controlled and audited repository, granting authorized agencies such as the FBI, Secret Service, and Congress direct access to the data without requiring repeated intervention from BCDES. This collaborative effort ensured timely compliance with the subpoena while preserving the integrity of the data for investigative purposes.

The rapid deployment of CloudSync facilitated the investigation and showed the vital role of mission-critical recording systems during national emergencies. “The seamless cooperation between Eventide Communications, IIC, and our team at BCDES ensured that we met the urgent demands of this investigation without compromising security or operational continuity,” stated Steve Bicehouse, Director of Emergency Services for Butler County.
